Summary
The proceedings were in respect of a four-year old child. The father was Irish; and the mother was Russian. In March 2010, the mother and the child went to Russia. The wardship proceedings in England were initiated by the father. The mother challenged the jurisdiction of the English court. It was noted that, in December 2012, the father appeared in Russian proceedings, and expressly stated that he agreed for the child to remain in Russia. The English court held that the habitual residence of the child was in Russia. The wardship proceedings were discharged.
