OPIS stands for Outcome Prediction In Subfertility.

There are three OPIS tools.

OPIS Pre IVF: Cycle 1 calculates your chances of having a baby following one or more *complete cycles of IVF treatment before you undergo any IVF treatment.

OPIS Post IVF: Cycle 1 also calculates your chances of having a baby after one or more *complete cycles of IVF but from the point of your first fresh embryo transfer.

OPIS-2 Pre IVF : Cylce 2 revises your chances of having a baby before starting your second *complete cycle of IVF.

*A complete cycle means all fresh and frozen-thawed embryo transfers resulting from one episode of ovarian stimulation.

OPIS Pre IVF: Cycle 1, OPIS Post IVF: Cycle 1 and OPIS-2 Pre IVF : Cylce 2 were developed using patient and treatment data from all IVF cycles carried out in the UK from 1999 to 2009. All of the personal identifying information was removed from the data before being used in the creation of the tool. This information was obtained from the Human Fertilisation and Embryological Authority (HFEA) who collect and store data on all licensed fertility treatments in the UK.

OPIS Pre IVF: Cycle 1, OPIS Post IVF: Cycle 1 and OPIS-2 Pre IVF : Cycle 2 were recently validated using HFEA data from 2010-2017 and have been updated. It is important to note that your predicted chances of having a baby calculated from the OPIS tool are not necessarily accurate. There are many other unmeasurable characteristics of patients which were not available when developing the tool that may improve or decrease your individual chance of having a baby.
