OPIS Pre IVF: Cycle 1, OPIS Post IVF: Cycle 1 and OPIS-2 Pre IVF : Cylce 2
were developed using patient and treatment data from all IVF cycles carried out in the UK from 1999 to 2009. All of the personal identifying information was removed from the data before being used in the creation of the tool.
This information was obtained from the Human Fertilisation and Embryological Authority (HFEA)
who collect and store data on all licensed fertility treatments in the UK.
OPIS Pre IVF: Cycle 1, OPIS Post IVF: Cycle 1 and OPIS-2 Pre IVF : Cycle 2 were recently validated using HFEA data from 2010-2017 and have been updated.
You can read more about the development and validation of these calculators in our journal articles: OPIS Pre and Post IVF, their validation, and OPIS-2.
It is important to note that your predicted chances of having a baby calculated from the OPIS tool are not necessarily accurate. There are many other unmeasurable characteristics of patients which were not available when developing the tool that may improve or decrease your individual chance of having a baby. If you are concerned about your predicted chances then please consult your fertility clinician.
