OPIS 1 - Predicting Pregnancy In Couples With Unexplained Subfertility
OPIS 1 calculates your chance of becoming pregnant within six months (leading to the birth of a baby) if you have just been diagnosed with unexplained subfertility. It predicts from the point of diagnosis and at each month thereafter. It can also be used to estimate your chance of becoming pregnant within six months following different fertility treatments - Clomiphene, intrauterine insemination with ovarian stimulation (IUI+SO) and in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
Clomiphene is a medical treatment that is used to help women ovulate i.e. release an egg.
IUI+SO involves the use of hormonal treatment to control the time of egg release. The male’s sperm is then placed inside the woman’s uterus to help fertilisation.
In IVF, hormonal treatment is used to stimulate the ovulatory process. The eggs are surgically removed from the ovaries and fertilised outside the body. The resulting embryo is then transferred to the uterus.
